PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS:

Your doctor may advise you to drink plenty of water the night before of your appointment, as well as the day of your blood draw. Always follow your doctor’s instructions relative to serum tears.

AFTER YOU RECEIVE YOUR EYE DROPS

You will receive a set of preservative-free eye drop bottles of serum tears. Use as directed per your doctor’s prescription relative to use and storage. To that end, your serum tears bottles will be placed in an insulated pouch with a frozen freezer pack for storage until you arrive home. Freeze all but one bottle of serum tears when you arrive home. Freeze at -20°C (-4°F). Keep the unfrozen bottle well refrigerated at 4°C (39.2°F) during the period of use and in a cooler pack when not refrigerated. Thaw each vial as needed keeping those not in use frozen. Prior to each use, tap the vial (cap down) 5 times on a hard surface to prevent squirts during eye drop dispensing. Refills can be provided at this facility consistent with your prescription.

AUTOLOGOUS BLOOD SERUM EYE DROPS FOR THE TREATMENT OF SEVERE DRY EYE

STEP 1

Mix the blood serum and saline to prescribed concentration.

STEP 2

Deliver the serum eye drop solution into the 5mL eye drop bottles through the sterilizing grade .2-micron filters into the sterile enclosure of the bag.

STEP 3

Cap the bottles from the outside of the bag ensuring eye drop sterility. Open bag, remove bottles, label, and package with freezer pack.
